Painless hemorrhoidectomy- Rubber Band Ligation

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids lead to bleeding, prolapse, itching, and other uncomfortable  problems at the anal opening.  Early hemorrhoids may be treated painlessly with Rubber Band Ligation, InfraRed Coagulation or ScleroTherapy .  Advanced hemorrhoids will require a day surgery

Fecal Incontinence

If you have difficulty controlling your bowels and find that you sometimes have accidents, you have options for effective treatments including the very effective InterStim implant.

Anal Cancer

Anal  Cancer is a cancer that involves the skin just inside and surrounding  the anus.   It is dangerous because it is easily ignored as  “hemorrhoids” and will grow and spread in time.  This cancer can be  lethal.  Farrah Fawcett  died from it.

Anal  Cancer is caused by the HPV virus, which is spread by sexual  contact.  This is why people that have anal sex are more prone to it.  HPV also causes cervical cancer, which is why women are advised to get regular cervical PAP smears.

In the US,  Anal Cancer has affected about 68,000 and killed about 12,000 between 2001 and 2015.  Come in for a screening if you have had ano-receptive sex.

Pilonidal Sinus/Abscess

If  you develop a painful lump between your tailbone and lower spine that  occasionally discharges a smelly fluid you may be suffering from  Pilonidal disease.  This will usually require a simple out-patient surgery for cure.

Rectal Prolapse

If you notice your rectum dropping out of you, you are probably dealing with a rectal prolapse.  This disabling condition usually affects elderly ladies and is effectively repaired using robotic techniques with the patient often being discharged the same day.

Colo/Rectal Cancer

Colon (and Rectal) Cancer is the #2 killer cancer in the United States.  We  have about 150,000 new cases a year. 1 in 22 of us will develop Colon/Rectal  Cancer.

If you are 45 or older you will need to be screened regularly for this cancer, usually by colonoscopy.  This is especially important if you have a family history of colo/rectal cancer or polyps.
